How to Apply
Applying to Live at the Commodore Duchess
Eligibility/Priority
In order to live at the Commodore Duchess, you must be a student at the University of Washington and at least 20 years of age.
Married student applicants will have priority over single student applicants.
Application Process
Step 1: Getting on the Waitlist
Complete and return the Single Student Housing Application or Married Student Housing Application, and a $25 application fee, to the UW Housing and Food Services office. You may also apply online at UW Housing & Food Services.
Once your eligibility has been confirmed, you will be put on our waiting list. Your rank on the waiting list is determined by the date that you submitted your application to the UW Housing office, and the desired move-in date you indicated on your application.
Step 2: Choosing an Apartment
We contact several students for each apartment that becomes available. If you choose to take an apartment that is being offered, continue the application process below. If you decline an apartment that is being offered, your name will remain on the waiting list for future availability.
Step 3: Applying for & Holding an Apartment
Once you have chosen an apartment, you will need to put a hold on the apartment. We will make an appointment to sign a Hold Form and collect other paperwork and fees required to hold an apartment.
Please bring the following items to your appointment:
1. A completed Background Check Application.
2. A $26.50 Background Check Fee (payable to MOCO, Inc., by check, money order, or credit card, by using the Credit Card Authorization Form)
Note: You may also complete the background check online at www.moco-inc.com. The online background check fee is $39.50
3. A $300 Non-Refundable Hold Fee (payable by check or money order).
4. A drivers license, passport, or other valid, state-issued identification.
PLEASE NOTE: Should your Background Check be denied approval, your $300 Hold Fee WILL be refunded and the apartment will be offered to others on the waiting list.
Should you change your mind about the apartment after signing the Hold Form, the $300 Hold Fee WILL NOT be refunded.
